JOHN MAYFIELD The star basketball player of Harry's school, and Catherine's boyfriend. Harry, of course, is (not-so-)secretly jealous of him. On one hand, he's a bit of a dumb jock - but on the other hand, he seems to be a fairly decent guy and not necessarily as stupid as he looks. He's the one who figures out the link between the mysterious Head-Twisting Murders and the use of Harry's powers - he has to believe in Harry's powers, since he saw them in use first-hand. Once he convinces Inspector Stanford of the reality and danger of Harry's powers, he helps the Inspector investigate Harry, Lyle, Miraculous Mick, and eventually the mysterious ACCUSER...
