LAKSHMI - (Hindu) The goddess of weath and luck, the wife of Vishnu. She rose out of the Milky Ocean when it was churned by the gods and demons, and she is strongly associated with lotuses.
LAZINESS - (original) The personification of the Cardinal Sin "Sloth." LEGION - (unknown) An evil spirit that is an aggregate of two or more souls that have lost all sense of individuality. LEPRECHAUN - (Irish) Small sprites common to Irish legend. Fond of humans, they'll often do light chores and labor, in exchange for things such as furniture. Another common legend is that they have a treasure (usually a pot of gold) that they relinquish in exchange for their freedom when caught.
LEVIATHAN - (Canaanite) A great sea beast described in the Old Testament, as well as Canaanite myth. According to the the New Testament, Leviathan will be destroyed during Armageddon.
LICH - (European?) The name means "corpse." These are undead sorcerers who have cursed themselves to live in an eternal state of half-life.
LILIM - (Judeo-Christian) The progeny of Lilith, these female demons of the night steal or strangle newborns, as well as seduce men to populate the world with more of their kind.
LINDA - The ghost of a singer who starved to death in Aoba Park. She still is rumored to haunt the park. In truth, she ran into the park to escape her hated job, and disappeared. (I'm trying to figure out which actual singer this is referring to...)
LOKI - (Norse) The trickster god, half-god and half-giant. For some reason, he had a link to Odin that allowed him to enter the home of the gods. He was constantly playing pranks and causing trouble for the gods, but his quick wits also saved the gods on many occasions. He's the father of Hel, Fenrir, and the World Serpent, and he's the mother(!) of Odin's eight-legged horse, Sleipnir. ILater on, his reputation became tarnished and he became implicated in the death of Baldur, the god of light. Loki was bound to a rock until Ragnarok, where he would break free and lead the forces overthrowing the gods. When Christianity reached Scandinavia and Iceland, he became associated with the Devil.
LUCIFUGUS - (Israeli) Known as "Lucifuge Rofocale." Lucifuge Rofocale is a fallen angel or demon depicted as a terrible dragon. In medival demonology, Lucifugus was the Prime Minister of Hell. (Note: brown bats have the species name "lucifugus.")
LUCIFER - (Judeo-Christian) The Devil who rules over Hell according to Christian theology. He is often also mistakenly referred to as Satan. (See Satan)
LUGH - (Celtic) The Celtic sun god, also known as Il-Dana.
