  • RAKSHASA - (Hindu) Flesh-eating monsters that can change shape but usually have red bloodshot eyes no matter what form they assume. They live in graveyards and forests and get much more powerful at night. They can fly and do magic.
  • RANGDA - (Balinese) A widow who became a witch and used black magic to curse the land when she was unable to get her daughter married. After a long battle, she was defeated by Mpu Bharadah.
  • RASPUTIN - (historical) Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin was a charismatic mystic who worked his way into the Russian palace shortly before the Russian revolution. He somehow managed to stop the bleeding of the hemophiliac Crown Prince, and he became a great favorite of the Queen. After some years of drinking and womanizing and conning, some of his political enemies decided to assassinate him. They fed him cyanide-laced cakes and beer, and he didn't die, then he was shot in the chest, but he got up again. Then they bludgeoned and shot him some more, and finally bound him and threw him into an icy river, where he was still alive enough to die of drowning.
  • RATATOSK - (Norse) A mischevious squirrel that ran up and down the World Tree, Yggdrassil, carrying gossip and stirring up trouble between the eagle on top of the tree and the dragon gnawing at its roots.
  • RED BERET - (original) Members of the New World Order in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Their job is to guard the laboratory.
  • RHADAMANTHUS - (Greek) One of the sons of Zeus and Europa, and one of the three judges of the Underworld. By all accounts a fair man with unshakeable integrity, he was made the ruler of the Elysian Fields after his death (the "good" part of the underworld) and sat in judgement of the souls of Asiatics.
  • RINOK - (Filipino) The ancient earth goddess, who created the first humans out of bamboo.
  • ROUSALKA - (Slavic) Beautiful female spirits with long unbound hair that tempt men into approaching and then attack them.
  • ROBIN GOODFELLOW - (English) Another name for Puck (see Puck).
  • RUKH - (Arabian) Gigantic birds that symbolize the sun and the sky. In the Arabian Nights, they are large enough to carry away elephants.
  • RYUUMAN - (original) A member of the Taiwanese mafia and a subordinate of Yun Pao.
  • RYUUME - (Chinese) Ryuume, the "Dragon Horse," was the son of the Dragon King Saikai, who committed a crime and was punished by being forced to accompany the monk Tripataka to India. Ryuume took the form of a white horse during this "Journey to the West," or "Saiyuki."
