GETTING THE LEGENDARY WEAPONS Author: Kya (rukiarotwood@yahoo.com) (insert cool ASCII shit here) Note: You certainly don't need to get these to finish the game. In fact, it's much more important to have good Persona than legendary weapons. But getting them allows you to see some fun dialogue and meet up with a couple of the Persona 1 characters, as well as unlock two of the best areas for leveling in the entire game - so yeah, I'd say that they're worthwhile sidequests. It doesn't matter where you start - but you have to get Tatsuya's legendary weapon before you get Lisa's, and you have to get Maya's and Eikichi's before you can get Jun's. I'd do them in two batches. Also, none of the legendary weapons can be acquired before you reach the 5th floor of Xibalba and head back out into the city via the Terminal, so don't even bother to try to get them before then. And you'll want to be at level 48 or above, to facilitate demon rumors. I had a help from Utopia Game (http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/3857/gamep2.html) when I was going to get these; this is basically a more informative version of their information. Much kowtowing goes to the proprietor of that page. The dialogues for these sections ARE translated, and can be found along with the main Tsumi script. However, the demon rumors in this section have NOT been translated, so you'll have to use whatever Japanese skills you have to figure out whether you've gotten the rumors or not. Here's a tip - demon rumors and rumors about the weapons themselves will show up in orange text, just like all the rumors you'd get from the rumormongers. The rumors about the secret rooms will be in orange, but when the demons mention legendary weapons being sold, those rumors won't, as I recall. ================================================ THE LEGENDARY JAPANESE SWORD (TATSUYA) ================================================ Read all of the notes (white papers with red writing on them) that are scattered around the Factory (the optional dungeon in Konan-ku). There are 11 notes - you can read them as you go through the game, if you visit the Factory frequently, or just do them all in one shot as the doors are all open after you get through the 5th floor of Xibalba. Area 1: 2 notes Area 2: 1 note Area 3: 2 notes Area 4: 2 notes Area 5: 2 notes Area 6: 1 note Front hallway, across from main entrance: 1 note You can tell each area by the numbers on the doors when you go in. Once you've read all of these notes, you'll be able to contact demons to get a rumor that the electrical board in the employee room on the 2nd floor is a secret passage. In my experience, the best, most talkative demons to contact for these rumors are MOON Succubus (female demon in a skimpy red dress with wings) and HANGEDMAN Pucel (female demon with a black dress and a bow and arrow). My partner in crime used STAR Valkyrie and HERMIT Kinich Ahau. Obviously you'll want to get the Joy response from the demons. Jun's "Amaeru" (the top left hand choice) works on all of them, though I think that the Gas Chamber concert (Tatsuya + Eikichi + Jun) is a never-miss for Valkyrie. Make a contract and then keep doing the "Joy" contacts, then asking for rumors. Hopefully, you'll be able to get them to mention that they've heard about the electrical board. After you get the rumor, spread it by contacting another demon and asking them to spread the rumor. By this time you'll probably have some rumors about demon spells (i.e. "Jack Frost can use Atomic Bufula") so you'll want to skip that and select the second option, "Rumors About This Dungeon". Then choose the rumor you want, which will probably be the first one available, and spread it. After this is spread, head up to the 2nd floor and to the electrical panel on the back right-hand of the Employee room, which is in the back of Area 4. Head through there into a small room. There you'll find two notes on the tables (read them both) and a person standing by the window. This is Kei Nanjou from Persona 1. Talk to him, agree to tell him what's up (the first choice) and before he leaves, he'll give you the Legendary Japanese Sword. In this room, you can also run into Virocana. Upon defeating him, you'll get his Material Card that will let you summon him. He's a pretty good SUN class Persona, level 65. While you're talking to Nanjou, he'll mention that he heard about his old enemy Takahisa Kandori wandering around the Factory...so your business isn't quite done here yet. ================================================ THE LEGENDARY AMERICAN GLOVES (LISA) ================================================ Now that Nanjou has mentioned Kandori, make sure you read the two notes in the room that he was in, and leave that room. One of the notes will mention that there is a weak spot in the floor somewhere in the Factory. Walk around in the entryway to the Factory underneath the note out there, and eventually you'll fall through the floor into a small room. Read the note lying near you, and save before opening the locker in that room. Inside that locker is level 80 LOVERS Alice, one of the hardest fights in the game. Magic Reflect Persona won't save your ass, but ones that void Dark and have real high TEC are pretty useful. Berserking her, if you can, is a great idea - she'll hit you hard, but she won't be able to instantly kill you. She's strong against all attacks. Have Recarm Dora or Crisis Powders around. Defeating her will net you 60,000 EXP (or 120,000 if you've been tricky with the Sumaru Gypsy, like I was) and the Karma Ring, which adds +100 to physical attack, and is necessary to summon Alice as a Persona in Batsu - your data will carry over if you choose to play Japanese Batsu and load your Tsumi save. Anyway! After you beat Alice, head out of the room and go back into Area 6 for some more contacting. The same demons that you contacted before are fine. Get the rumor about the liquid waste processing room. Spread this rumor the same way you spread the first (though this time, the right rumor should be the second of three choices) and then after that's done, head back to the far left hand corner of Area 6. The door there should now be open. This area is rather mazelike, and there are some pretty tough encounters. But you should do well in the way of EXP back here. Watch out, because Alice is a rare encounter in this area. (This makes it a great leveling area, though! Once you're past level 70, you can simply use Estoma over and over again to fight Alice repeatedly and shoot up to level 80 quickly. Great if you're going for the Hindu Trio or Satan and Lucifer.) Head back towards the upper left-hand corner, and you'll find a small room. Inside that room is Reiji Kido, also from Persona 1. He'll tell you to go home, and you can either ask him "Are you Kandori?" (the first choice) or leave. Ask him if he's Kandori. He'll eventually give you the Legendary American Gloves. ================================================ THE LEGENDARY GUITAR CASE (EIKICHI) ================================================ First off for this is to contact more demons! Your contracted pals in Area 6 will be of use here. You're looking for them to mention that they heard about a legendary guitar case being sold in the city. They might actually mention the Guitar Case when you're trying to get the secret room rumors. Once one of the demons mentions the guitar case, head over to the Shiraishi Ramen in Hirasaka-ku and talk to the Ramen Lady. Eikichi will ask her if she has the case, and she'll mention that there are rumors about her selling a legendary guitar case, but that she doesn't have it. Go to the Kuzunoha and spread that rumor. Head back to the Shiraishi, and you'll have a dialogue scene between Eikichi and the Ramen Lady. When you're given the choice to make Eikichi eat the Anko Tang-Mian or let him off the hook, make him eat it. (The first choice.) He'll eat it, get poisoned, and then you'll have the ability to buy the case for 500,000 yen from the Ramen Lady off of the regular weapons menu. ================================================ THE LEGENDARY HANDGUN (MAYA) ================================================ Back into Area 6 for you. Contact your demon friends again and get them to tell you about a legendary handgun being sold in the city. If they've already mentioned this, more power to you. After you hear about the gun from a demon, head over to the Cleir-De-Lune in Aoba-ku. There will be a dialogue between Maya and Garcon Soejima in which he will tell you that he doesn't have the legendary handgun, despite rumors circulating about it. Go to the Kuzunoha, spread the rumor, and then to back to the Cleir-De-Lune. After a dialogue between Maya and Garcon Soejima, you'll be given a choice. Tell Maya to suck it up and eat the kusaya spaghetti (first choice). She'll eat it, get poisoned, and then he'll ask Tatsuya if the spaghetti was good. Answer that it was (first choice) and you'll have the ability to buy the Legendary Handgun for 500,000 yen from the regular weapons menu at the Cleir-De-Lune. ================================================ THE LEGENDARY FLOWER (JUN) ================================================ After completing the Legendary Guitar Case and Handgun missions, go over to Araya Shrine in Rengedai. (You must complete the Guitar Case and Handgun missions first; this event will not happen if you do not.) Talk to the boy behind the shrine (rotate the camera to see him) and he'll tell you abou a flyer at Honmaru Park. Go to Honmaru Park and read the bulletin board on the right-hand side of the fountain. It'll say that there's talk of a Legendary Weapon being sold at the Time Castle. The next destination is the Time Castle, where there will be a dialogue scene between the Time Count and several customers. Once this event ends, head out and talk to all five of the rumormongers. TOKU: The seller is in the factory, but the Count was too scared of the story of the monsters and couldn't go to buy it. (Rengedai) TORO: The weapon was stolen by a demon. (Gatten Sushi) CHIKARIN: It was sold to a woman of weak fortune. (Peace Diner) BAOFU: It was given to a woman as a present. (W-Slash) SUMARU GYPSY: The Count plans to sell it for a really high price. (Sumaru Gypsy) Go to the Kuzunoha and spread one of these five rumors. -> If you spread Toku's rumor, you can buy the flower from a guy on the 2nd floor of the Factory for 500,000 yen. -> Spread Toro's rumor, and you'll have to defeat Fenrir (a pretty common encounter) in the Liquid Waste Processing room in the Factory to get the flower. Unless you're above level 70 (like I was at the time) you can just use Estoma to find him easily. -> If you spread Chikarin's rumor, the flower is gone for good. -> If you spread Baofu's rumor, Maki will give you the flower for free. Find her at either Tony's Shop (if Hannya lived) or in 3-B at Seven Sisters (if Hannya died). -> If you spread the Gypsy's rumor, the Count will have the flower for 800,000 yen. Unless you have a lot of cash to blow, I think the best answer is obvious. ^_- ********************************************************************************** COPYRIGHT INFO All characters, situations, etc. are copyright Atlus 1996, 1999, 2000.
